Dr. Joseph Mullen is a general surgeon with expertise in advanced minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic techniques for abdominal surgery. Born and raised in Northern New Jersey, Dr. Mullen moved to Texas to play Division III soccer in college and subsequently attended the University of Texas Long School of Medicine. True to his east coast roots, he completed his surgical residency residency in Virginia training under Dr. L.D. Britt at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he was broadly exposed to all aspects of general surgery. Dr. Mullen then completed a Minimally Invasive Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery Fellowship with the Jackson Health System in Miami, Florida where he increased his proficiency in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. 

Dr. Mullen is certified in robotic surgery, and passionate about utilizing the latest technology to maximize patient outcomes while using the smallest incisions possible to minimize postoperative pain. He is proficient in appendix, gallbladder, hernia, colon, small intestine, stomach, and hernia surgery and performs both elective and emergency surgery. During his free time he enjoys golfing, skiing, watching professional sports, and travelling.
